The residence at Governors Point follows the contours of the site and spans a natural ravine. Set in the stunning geologic setting of the triple-peaked mountain, the intent was to reflect that power in the 24,000 square foot home. Using granite sourced form Cheyenne Mountain, a mass of boulder creates the foundation, which gives way to brick walls. The brick, hand cast in wood forms, is one of many hand made materials used on the home to connect the settings raw beauty with human warmth and ingenuity.

The residence at Governors Point was influenced by the iconic Greene and Greene craftsmen style homes. Hand fired brick, natural colored stucco, Italian Mahogany windows, exterior redwood timbers and a green/grey tile roof blend with the environment.

The home sits on 4 acres and was completed in 2004 by the Weitz Co., known for their high Rise buildings & Mountain Ski residences. Clifford Taylor Architects designed the home that is the embodiment of western architecture and merges with the rugged landscape of Cheyenne Mountain to form the ultimate private sanctuary for the owners.

Commedia Dell'Atre pieces set in Van Briggle Pottery Company tile. Decorative Van Briggle tile accents are found throughout the masonry. This was the first major architectural use of Van Briggle Pottery since the first world war.

Hand fired brick is used throughout the exterior of the residence. Lighted columns are topped by a pergola covered in grapevines inviting you into the separate office wing.

Stone steps blend into the environment as well as the landscaping around the residence, which is an extension of its natural surroundings.

The Porte Cochere is constructed with old growth redwood timbers and the exterior chandelier is made with art glass and wrought iron by Robb Gunter, the dean of american blacksmiths in New Mexico.

The custom entry door pivots and is adorned with local blacksmithing artisan Butch Lee's wrought iron organic inlay.

The foyer was laid with tiles from Jerusalem, closets are made from African Mahogany and a light fixture from Italy adds ambiance to the entry.

Mosaic inset tiles under an oculus skylight which leads up to the master wing and family bedrooms and baths.The interior walls throughout the home are veneer plaster walls.

Ladies restroom and sitting area is adjacent to the Gentlemen's room. Stunning mosaic tiles reflecting nature through the bird and butterfly pattern are inset into the flooring.

The living room limestone fireplace is inset with rose quartz tiles.Extensive Mahogany woodwork, beamed ceilings reflect the Arts and Crafts style of the home. Quarter sawn white oak flooring cut from the northern slopes of the Appalachian Mountains graces the floors. Stroll out to a lovely terrace and enjoy nature on one of the many terraces.

The Mahogany beamed game/entertainment room is off the living room . An artisan from Santa Barbara crafted an art glass back drop for the bar featuring a custom beer tap.The flooring is detailed with an intricate Herringbone pattern.An ice machine, dishwasher, wine cooler and hot water dispenser at the sink make this a full service bar. Walk out to another lovely terrace through one of the custom doors that is unique to each room.

The exercise room has a wonderful entry with a spa feel as you enter the cedar sauna and steam shower area complete with built in cabinetry to store belongings and hang your robe. Sink and refrigerator complete this room. Walk out to a terrace and up natural stone steps to the in ground Jacuzzi amid the spruce trees and say "AHH"

Down the galleria with wonderful Alabaster sconces lighting the way you come to the family wing of the home and into this great workroom/ library space with built in cabinetry, dry erase boards, window seat with built in drawers. The sun shines through the Italian Albertini windows, which are the finest wood windows made in Europe and are throughout the residence.

The projection/television room is adjacent to the library/workroom and has a new projector, leather floors, beamed ceilings, built in cabinetry and is a wonderful space to cuddle up and watch your favorite movie!

Down the hall from the laundry room is the fabulous wine tasting room/wine cellar with reclaimed Italian tile flooring, and a temperature controlled wine storage behind a glass wall.

Up the hand forged wrought iron staircase with a grapevine railing,under the oculus skylight and magnificent Italian chandelier, you enter the private family and master bedroom wings.

The master suite is accessible from two entryways. The first is through the sitting/office area, with hand painted tiles surrounding the fireplace. This room has views of the city.

From the sitting/office area you enter into a full kitchen complete with sink, pull out dishwasher drawer, fridge, microwave and sink. There is a walk in storage closet adjacent to the kitchen.

Enter the master bedroom suite from either the hallway with leather inlaid doors, or through the office/sitting area kitchen. The fireplace is adorned with custom Van Briggle tiles, which are found throughout the home,and is the first major architectural use of Van Briggle pottery since the first world war.

A lovely terrace with a wood burning fireplace is off the master bedroom.

The terrace has a custom hand forged tulip railing and the use of Van Briggle tiles on the fireplace. You can see the use of redwood timbers.

The elegant bathroom has a jetted tub and large shower with intricate tile work and a rain shower head. The cabinets are inlaid with leather.
